The new books I just wrote about

They are called "BOB" books. Not sure why, but they many parents have been asking for them.

NEW JUVENILE SHELVING INFO

Hi everyone,

Some books that are new to the system have just arrived. They are little flimsy-type books, about 6" X 5" whose covers include purple, red, blue, yellow, and green. They have beginning reader labels on them. Please put them at the end of the beginning readers on Aisle 5A.

New Wimpy Kid & Percy Jackson Books

Jeff Kinney and Rick Riordan fans rejoice! We have received several cataloged copies of Diary of a Wimpy Kid - books #2 & #3, as well as uncataloged paperbacks of some of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, i.e., Battle of the Labyrinth.

Newspapers

All,

Per Nina, please ask for a driver's license or state ID when a customer requests a current newspaper. Customers are less likely to leave their ID behind than their library card. This is the preferred practice, but if a customer would rather give their library card instead, that should be honored.

All,

We will have a person from the US Census in one of the meeting rooms from 12 to 3 Tuesdays through Saturdays through the middle of April. If anyone asks for help with the Census forms, please direct them to these folks.

The Census materials are behind the reference desk. Please make sure the Census folks get them each day.

Printing for Customers

All,

We all have customers who come to the desk wanting to have items printed for them, instead of having them print them from the computer. Please regard each one on a case-by-case basis. Printing a page or two for a customer is often the best customer service. Some people will take advantage of this and, again, please use your best judgment (e.g., "Mrs. Smith, I've gone ahead and printed this one. Let me show you how to print for yourself."). Again, each case is different and sometimes, it's best for all parties concerned for us to print something. Please see me if you have any questions.

A Visit from Suzy

I have made a small permanent display on 1A of large print. Please continue to shelf large print on the back shelves across from 15B. Remember, do not stuff shelves. If books don't fit and shifting isn't an option, tell one of the reference staff.
