Good afternoon,
Please only use the Coin Copier for staff copies whenever absolutely necessary.
If we are making a copy from a book for a program, then that is ok. If we are making copies of the monthly calendar, then we would be better off to just print that out. I have the calendar on my flash drive. I will try to make sure that we have plenty of them out there. If you ever see that we need more, please let me know.
I will put in a link to the Calendar File on the right-hand side of the blog. Just remember when clicking on the link to print out more calendars, the file is 12 pages long, and we only need to print out the 9th page. Also remember that we need to change the preferences to landscape when the box comes up asking us which printer to use. Otherwise it will print out in portrait by default. To be able to view the calendar, you will have to log into box.net as stestaff@gmail.com and password same as staff password for windows.
The location guide handout is on the blog to be printed out under STE cheat sheets.
We need to do our best to not abuse the Coin Copier free print option. Continue using it if needed in case of a customer not receiving their copy, etc.
Thanks,
Patrick

RFID Tagging
As of today, all items to be shelved need to be checked for RFID Tagging. There is a silver cart behind the staffroom door that will be used to stage items that need to be tagged. For bookdrop, either check the items as you go or or after, whichever is fastest for you. If you run out of time, please place all unchecked items in the appropriate Bertha bins. Check all items before building a cart to be shelved. Please do not place or leave items on carts that have not been checked.

Parking on Monday
Sheltering Arms came and let us know that they will have a large meeting on Monday. Some of their people may overflow into our lot. I told them that is fine. So just be aware of that on Monday.

Location Maps and Meeting
Good Afternoon,
Just wanted to summarize the meeting this morning for those that may not have attended.
We need to really focus on checking patrons when there is an alarm going out the 3M gates. The gates should be working now, so we need to pay attention to those alarms. We also need to try and corral customers into the proper area to get on the computer. Kids in kids, teens in teens, adults in adult.
Locations Maps
We received a location map that we will display on an easel starting next Monday. The map will be displayed in a high traffic area close to the desk. We will have the pins behind the counter at the desk. We should encourage all customers to participate in the project. If they are close to Stella Link Library, they should use the inset on the map in the lower right corner. If not, they can use the larger map that covers the whole board.
We will have an instructional handout that describes how they should use the pins with the map. To get more handouts, contact hplprintgraphics.
To get more pins, contact Tiffany Little.
We will also be handing out surveys to go along with this project. More surveys can be acquired from hplprintgraphics. Completed surveys should be routed to Tiffany Little in communications on a weekly basis. The map will be displayed for three weeks total.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Removing a Bookend
It is not permitted to completely remove a bookend from a shelf. It was observed that no less than 6 bookends were removed from the holds shelves. The shelves immediately above and below the shelf were not filled to capacity. Please take the extra few seconds to move a few books to a shelf above or below. If you need assistance, please see me.

Volunteers
Please forward all questions about volunteers to Andrea 832-393-1481. She knows how long it takes for applications, etc. All applications need to be done through the City of Houston website.
Also, please help the new volunteers by checking their carts and walking them out to the shelving area if I'm not available. Remember, things that are common place for us are not always apparent for some of them. They are a great help but some need more training than others.
Thanks for your help.

Library Card Registration
When creating/updating/renewing library accounts please be sure to update all information from application to the account in MilCirc.
Also, a note needs to be added to indicate how the address was verified if a Driver's License or Texas ID card does not have the correct address. When an out-of-state DL or ID is used, type out the state name or use Postal Abbreviation. For example "Arizona DL 1213456789 and Utility Bill used to verify information. STE/TS."
Thanks. Tim
