Passport Office Line Call by Name

When working as the standing Passport Agent, please call for the next applicant by name. If they are not present in the small hallway, make a general announcement in the library. Make a note if they do not respond. Some of our applicants do not go into the hallway if there is already a line and sometimes they really do think they are "next" if they were just checked out and placed on the list. There have been a few complaints when people have been waiting but were never called by name.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Passport Day

Good Morning,

Just wanted to congratulate everyone for surviving passport day on Saturday.  To give you an idea of how we did.  Our previous high for processing passports on a Saturday was about 50.  This Saturday we did 101.  That works out to over 16 per hour, which means we were processing each passport in less than 4 minutes.

I think I can safely say that no HPL staff ever has had to endure the 6 hour long pressure cooker that you all had to work through this past Saturday. It was filled with adversity and obstacles.  There was a time there in the afternoon where I literally thought I was going to pass out from exhaustion.  So, I know if I was feeling like that, then everyone else was too. I only wish we could bottle up what you all did on Saturday and send it to the mayor's office so she could see how dedicated this staff is.

It would have been easy to cut the list off early in the morning and did, say, 75 applications.  No one would have really had a problem with it either, because that's probably all we should be able to humanly do in reality.  I have extremely high expectations for the staff here though.  I never heard any complaints.  I never heard a single selfish thought uttered.  Everyone sold out and did whatever they could to make the team look good.

I think it is much more preferable to have extremely high expectations and strive to be exceptional and come up just a little short and still end up being great, as opposed to lowering your expectations to just try to be average and reaching them every time.  Anyone can be average.  It takes a special group to be exceptional.

This staff, not just the ones working past Saturday, but the entire staff reaches those high expectations laid out more times than not.

Thanks again for all your hard work.  Hopefully we won't see any more National Passport Days for a while.
See you in a few weeks.

Patrick
