Adult Reservation Station and Clear Hold Shelf

The trust issue with the adult reservation station was reported to IT on Tuesday. A follow up was done this morning and should be fixed today.

It appears the clear holdshelf report has not updated in two days. The issue has been reported to Fred S.

Computer Issue Log

A spreadsheet has been created to keep track of the computer issues. It is located on the blog on the right hand side under the heading Stella Link Staff. Separate sheets have been added for public computers to include the printer, all staff computers and printers, and the 3M Self Check machines.

There is space to describe the issue, the date/time reported, and the staff member that reported the issue. IT sometimes requires a G Number or Serial Number for the device to be repaired so a space has been provided for that as well.

This spreadsheet will act as a record to track issues so we may accurately determine which computers have an ongoing issue. Also, if IT calls to gather more information about a problem we know what, when, and by whom the problem was reported.

TeleCheck Settlement Statement Receipt

Beginning today, please send in the original settlement/closing receipt that is printed out from TeleCheck with that appropriate deposit for that day. Make a copy of it to include with our records. Please include the closing from both credit and check transactions even if their weren't any that day.

Printing out the new Holds Label

When processing holds from delivery or bookdrop/others, please use the Discharging wizard located in the Common Tasks wizard group. The wrappers will not print in the Receive Transit wizard.

When all the branches convert to the 1-Up Holds Label, items received in delivery will already be wrapped with the new label and will be scanned in Receive Transit wizard to notify the customer of an available hold. The printing of a label will not work in this function so another label is not printed out.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for all your hard work in this new process.

Door Count July 2015

Saturday July 26 will be the first day for Door Count. During this time, we will read the P-Number on an hourly basis from the 3M Gate at the front door and record it on the spreadsheet accessed through the Daily Stats located on the blog.

The P-Number is found on the electronic display window on the right side (workroom side) of the center 3M gate barrier. Several numbers will be displayed for several seconds before cycling to the next. These numbers include I=P: 123456, O=P: 123456, and _=P: 123456. The number to be recorded is the last one that has no letter before the =P:

Also, we need to keep a tally of the items used in-house, but not checked out, and left on tables and elsewhere in the library. This number will be taken throughout the day during pickup and also recorded on the same spreadsheet.

It would really increase our ability to ensure this number gets recorded if the staff member scheduled for rove to review and record this number on their way out to the desk at the beginning of each hour.

If we have volunteers doing pickup, please get a count of the items picked up and record on the spreadsheet.

Thank you.

Collection Management Meeting

July Weeding Project:
In the Juvenile area we will start w/the outdated items in non-fiction. The list of 500’s (dewey) will be given to Volunteers to pull. In the States & Countries area of 900, anything older than 2010 should be pulled. The Picture Books and Juvenile fiction will be weeded by condition, by the Volunteers. Le will assign the team where needed. We were unable to hear anything of the Teen/YA area…Jesse was attending training.

Float Hiatus:
Please do not stop adding items to the Float shelves. We currently cannot ship/distribute anything out of the bldg. Lederius will inform us of the resumption of shipping.

DVD Arrangement:
As noted in the blog from late last wk, Carol has alphabetized the foreign fiction titles and put the adult non-fiction in dewey order. This will make Paging very much easier.

Hold Wraps:

Some highlights of the earlier training concerning the new HOLDs wrap were discussed. Training for these new procedures will start today and flow throughout Fri morn, enabling the STE staff to be ready for the Monday launch of these procedures.

DVD Rearrangement for Paging Lists

Prior to a couple of hours ago finding a specific non-fiction DVD to fulfill a Paging List was problematic. Yes the cases were shelved according to producers, i.e. National Geographic/PBS, or sometimes shelved as a series, yet that information (producer/series) is not included on the Paging List itself.
Henceforth the non-fiction DVDs will be shelved by 'bulk' Dewey. Bulk Dewey means that all 500s will be together and not in any particular order...all 600s will be shelved together yet not consecutively. When utilizing the call number to search for an item from the Paging List, it should be easier to find, as well as grouping DVDs by subject matter for our patrons.

Also changing today the 'foreign' DVDs, will be alphabetically shelved as well. There are some non-fiction foreign DVDs and they will be shelved, as a group, just after the foreign movies/DVDs.
